Our auditions are very singer friendly. Have a song that you like prepared and bring the sheet music for it for our accompanist. It can be a folk song, church song or your favorite musical number. Then come to any of our rehearsals early in the show season (usually September and January). Let the director know you are thinking of joining. Sit in for the rehearsal and at the end of the evening, the director and one designated member from each section with stay to hear you. Robert, our director may ask you to sing your song (or may not), maybe do a couple of vocal exercises to determine your range (for section placement) and will have you sing a song we rehearsed that evening, next to the member that is in your vocal range. The song will be sung as a quartet. After that, you're free to go and the committee will discuss your membership request and call you that same week. The Chorale presents two shows each year (4-6 performances each), one in the late Fall and one in the Spring. These are written and produced by Chorale members on the Production Committee. We then generally take off the summer months for R&R. The Chorale also does perform at community events, nursing homes, senior centers and the like, when it is practical. Especially during the holiday seasons. The Chorale Show Season is a demanding show schedule. We begin by rehearsing the Music on Tuesday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:30 or 10:00pm. beginning 12 weeks before our scheduled opening night. That's usually in September and January. Then 6 weeks prior to the show, we begin additional rehearsals on Saturdays for 3 hours, to start adding the Choreagraphy and Show order. During this time, it is important that you start memorizing words and choreography at home. The week prior to opening, we move into the theater (usually DL Parsons in Northglenn) for what we lovingly call "hell week". We generally setup the stage on Sunday, rehearse Monday and Tuesday nights, have a Semi-Dress rehearsal on Wednesday night and a Full Rehearsal on Friday Night. We then open Saturday evening. It is demanding, but in the end it's worth it. And the whole process leading up to the show is a lot of fun! And of course, there are a lot of other activities that you can get involved with. We have commitees for everything, and you are invited to take part (sometimes it's best to wait until you get that first show under your belt). There are teams for Production, Costumes, Set Design, Set Construction, Advertising, Tickets, Program Ads, Props, Refreshments and Music. It's all about Show Biz and the Northland Chorale offers the opportunity to anyone who wants to get involved. This is a great starting point for young and old actors and singers alike. Many of our past members have used the Chorale as a launching board to careers in Show Business. Membership Fee:
$40/Year
